Official guidelines for accessing the Livigno Ski Area during the Olympic period
PRESS RELEASE
Official Guidelines for Accessing the Livigno Ski Area During the Olympic Period
Livigno (SO) – On the occasion of the Winter Olympic Games, the Skipass Livigno Association confirms that 95% of the ski area will remain regularly open and accessible throughout the duration of the event. Although local traffic may undergo changes due to the international scale of the event, the Association is committed to ensuring the best possible operations for all winter sports enthusiasts. Below is the key information:
Access to Competition Fields and Dedicated Lifts
Specifically, Gondola No. 3 (Mottolino), starting February 1st, 2026, and Gondolas No. 11/12 (Carosello 3000), starting January 30th, 2026, will be open to the public exclusively for uphill travel. These are the primary access routes to the Olympic venues.
These lifts will feature mixed use with athletes: this is a unique opportunity to reach the peaks side-by-side with the protagonists of the Games and ski just a step away from history. To ensure the best possible coexistence, all users are reminded to strictly respect the priority and safety rules specifically established for the event.
Slope Availability and Management of Competition Areas
To allow the Olympic races to take place, some tracks will be reserved exclusively for athletes according to the following calendar:
Mottolino Side:
To allow the races to be held, slopes n.5 (from 07.01 to 22.02) and n.3 (from 25.01 to 22.02) will be reserved exclusively for competitions. Skiability on the rest of the mountain side remains guaranteed as follows:
-
Slopes and Returns: Returning to the valley on skis is always guaranteed via the Giorgio Rocca slope. The entire Trepalle sector and the Passo Eira area will remain entirely open and accessible to the public.
-
Connections and Beginners: For those wishing to return to town by public transport, a bus service is active from the Teola, Sponda, Trepalle, and Yepi areas. To help beginners reach the stops, the Yepi and Teola chairlifts can also be used for downhill travel.
-
HQ Mottolino: The facility will become the official Hospitality center for athletes and teams; therefore, it will not be accessible to the public.
-
Ticket Office and Rental: The ticket office will remain operational at the gondola departure station. The rental shop at HQ will be closed, but the delivery service to partner hotels will remain active.
-

Guide to Access and Mobility: How to Ski in Livigno During the Games
1. Skiers Residing or Staying in Livigno
For those staying or residing directly in the resort, access to the slopes does not undergo particular restrictions:
-
It is possible to purchase any type of skipass, both online in advance and at the ticket offices.
-
Those staying in Livigno who purchase their skipass online DO NOT need to add the "WINTER GAMES PARK&GO" additional product to their cart.
-
The car pass required for access and circulation is a right and is provided through the official dedicated portal: passauto.milanocortina2026.org.
2. "Day" Skiers: Access Procedures
Access for those who wish to ski without staying in Livigno is strictly regulated and differentiated based on the chosen means of transport:
Bus Option (Highly Recommended):
-
From Italy: Line A072 (Perego) is active with hourly connections between Bormio and Livigno (06:00-22:00). This solution allows you to avoid queues and access the lifts directly without time constraints or the need for a car pass. Booking a seat is highly recommended.
-
From Switzerland: During the Olympic period, access is permitted exclusively via dedicated bus services.
-
In both cases, the skipass must be purchased online at shop.skipasslivigno.com without adding the "Winter Games Park&Go" product.
Access by Car (Only via Passo Foscagno):
-
Transit at the Valdidentro road gate (Isolaccia) is allowed for day skiers exclusively after 11:00 AM. Before this time, access is reserved for residents and guests with a specific pass.
-
To ensure entry and parking, it is mandatory to purchase the skipass online by adding the "WINTER GAMES PARK&GO" product to the cart. Access is limited (contingented).
-
Even holders of already valid skipasses (Seasonal, Alta Valtellina multi-day, or PayPerUse like Telepass and MyPass) must request the contingented car pass through the procedure available at this link.
For those accessing by car, the validity of the transit is subject to strict control rules:
-
Transit: Allowed at the Valdidentro road gate (Isolaccia) for day skiers exclusively after 11:00 AM.
-
Car Access to Livigno for Skiing: Limited/Contingented.
-
Receipt: The official Car Pass will be sent via email by 6:00 PM the day before transit.
-
Mandatory Printing: The document must be printed in A4 format and MANDATORY IN COLOR. Digital format on smartphones is not accepted.
-
Display: The pass must be displayed on the dashboard for the entire duration of the stay.
-
Parking: The order receipt allows access to the reserved parking areas of Trepalle or Passo Eira (Mottolino side). From here, users can access the lifts or move via local buses to reach other sectors of the ski area.
-
Limitations: Overnight parking is strictly prohibited, and the areas are active only during lift opening hours.
